Kawane was a town located upper near the Oi river in Shizuoka prefecture. In 2008, Kawane was merged into the expanded city of Shimada. The former town is notable for its production of mountain teas.
This mountainous region, often surrounded by morning mist, offers the best suited climate for the growth of tea.
Kawane is proud to produce some of the highest quality teas in Japan.
