Kyusu teapot by Tokoname artist Tokuta Fujita.

Tokuta Fujita, born in 1975 in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, is a renowned ceramic artist specializing in Tokoname-yaki teapots. After graduating from Yahata Industrial High School in 1996, he began his training in Tokoname and joined the Tokoname Municipal Ceramic Research Institute. After completing his studies in 1999, he apprenticed under master Araki Toshio (荒木俊雄). It wasn't until the early 2010s that he expanded his work to teapot making. He explores a variety of styles, ranging from classic mogake patterns on yakishime clay to more personal use of glazes. Today, he is recognized as one of the promising artists shaping the future of Tokoname pottery.

The tea strainer is made of ceramic and has a fine grain, the technique is called "Sasame".

What is Tokoname ware?

Made in the city of Tokoname in Aichi Prefecture, also called one of the "Six Ancient Kilns" of Japan. Tokoname is among these six pottery producing towns and is considered the largest producing area among them.
