Kyusu teapot & cups by Tokoname artist : Kenji Tōen 憲児陶苑
Takumi Hotta (堀田 拓見) is an active artist in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture, one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns. He was born there in 1985 and he graduated from Tokoname Tounomori Ceramic Art Institute in 2013. In 2023, he took over the Tōen studio and is known as Kenji Tōen.
What is Tokoname ware?
Made in the city of Tokoname in Aichi Prefecture, also called one of the "Six Ancient Kilns" of Japan. Tokoname is among these six pottery producing towns and is considered the largest producing area among them.
