Kyusu teapot by Tokoname artist : Tôsen 陶仙
Handcrafted by master artisan Tôsen, this teapot showcases the Japanese technique of Nerikomi(練込), in which layers of differently colored clays are combined to form patterns that run all the way through the clay body. The design is built from within: the clays are stacked, stretched, or twisted into a patterned block, then sliced to reveal intricate motifs such as stripes, waves, or marbled effects.
Because the patterns emerge naturally during the crafting process, no two teapots are ever the same. Each teapot is a one-of-a-kind work of art, entirely unique.
The tea strainer is made of ceramic and has a fine grain, the technique is called "Sasame".
What is Tokoname ware?
Made in the city of Tokoname in Aichi Prefecture, also called one of the "Six Ancient Kilns" of Japan. Tokoname is among these six pottery producing towns and is considered the largest producing area among them.
