Shipping policy

Shipment

Products are all shipped from our office in Japan.

Products are shipped as soon as they are ready, usually within 1-2 working days. In the case of longer delay, we will contact you by email to provide an estimate shipment date. Please note that we do not ship on Saturdays, Sundays and Japanese holidays.

Once the order is shipped, you will receive tracking numbers to be used on the forwarder website for live tracking of your package.

For international delivery, we mainly uses DHL, Fedex and Japan post service. Express delivery by DHL, Fedex or EMS usually take 2 to 5 days, while Japan Post will take longer (usually 9 to 20 days). Please note that those are usual average. Actual delivery times may vary depending on shipping method, destination, customs clearance (for international orders) and weight. Further delays are possible due to circumstances out of our control.

 

Shipping restriction

Although our forwarders ship to most countries in the world, there may be cases where we are not able to deliver to your country of residence. You'll be notified as soon as possible if we're unable to ship specific items to the address you've selected.

 

Shipping rates

The exact cost of your order will be provided at checkout, depending on delivery place, the weight and the selected forwarder.

Free shipping is available depending on the order value. See the required amount specified on the cart page or in the top banner of the shop.

 

Price, Customs Duties and Taxes

● Sales within Japan

All prices are shown VAT included. As the product are sent from Kyoto and stay within Japan, no other taxes will be necessary.

● Sales outside of Japan

You are responsible to ensure that the product can be lawfully imported. In particular, please be aware that some of our items may be rejected by customs in your country. We ship our products globally, and while a product may be accepted by one country, it could be rejected by another. As customs policies can change frequently, please check with your country’s authority on food imports if an item will be cleared by customs or not.

If you fail to complete the importation procedure in your country and the package is return to Japan or destroy, the package will be considered return, as per our return policy. All incurred fees (transportation both ways, administrative fees, etc) will be deducted before any refund could be considered.

When customs clearance procedures are required, it can cause delays beyond our original delivery estimates.

    • Sales to individuals in Unites States of America.

Prices and custom duties: All the prices on the site already includes (where applicable) all relevant taxes and custom duties to enter your country. 
Only Express shipping is available and the shipment is sent under DDP incoterms, therefore you will not be requested any payment upon reception of your package by the transporter.
If you are requested to pay anything at the reception, please contact us and we will see with the transporter directly.

    • Sales to individuals in countries member of the European Union (EU)

Prices & VAT: All prices are shown VAT included. Our company is registered in the Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS). As such, we are collecting the VAT of your country with the product price and we are responsible of paying it directly to the authorities. With "Express shipping", the shipment is sent under DDP incoterms, therefore you will not be requested any payment upon reception of your package.
With "Japan Post International Airmail", DDP incoterms is not available. If you are requested to pay vat at the reception, ask for a payment receipt and send us a copy. We will refund you the corresponding amount. (Only the VAT amount is covered. Any other fees can not be reimbursed.)

Customs duties and fees: For shipment of total value below 150Eur, the shipment is usually exempted from customs duties and you should not be requested any tax payment upon reception of your package. However, in some countries, customs office might request you to pay for additional fees (such as safety inspection, handling, etc).
For shipment value superior to 150Eur, customs duties and fees may be applied by the customs office of your country and you are responsible for its payment.

In any case, we have no control over whether duties and fees are applied or not. It is at the sole discretion of the customs officer and you are responsible for its payment.

    • Sales to individuals in United Kingdom, Switzerland and Norway

Prices & VAT: All the prices on the site already includes (where applicable) the VAT of your country.
With Express shipping, the shipment is sent under DDP incoterms, therefore you will not be requested any payment upon reception of your package.
With "Japan Post International Airmail", DDP incoterms is not available. If you are requested to pay vat at the reception, ask for a payment receipt and send us a copy. We will refund you the corresponding amount. (Only the VAT amount is covered. Any other fees can not be reimbursed.)

Customs duties : For shipment of total value below 135GBP / 150CHF / 350NOK, the shipment is exempted from customs duties and you should not be requested any payment upon reception of your package.However, in some countries, customs office might request you to pay for additional fees (such as safety inspection, handling, etc).
For shipment value superior to 135GBP / 150CHF / 350NOK, customs duties may be applied by the customs office of your country and you are responsible for its payment.

In any case, we have no control over whether duties and fees are applied or not. It is at the sole discretion of the customs officer and you are responsible for its payment.

    • Sales to individuals in Canada

Prices & Federal and Provincial sales taxes ("GST" / "HST" / "PST" / "RST" / "QST") : All prices are shown excluding any taxes. However, we offer a service to clear the Canadian customs for you.
On checkout, you have the option to choose between 3 shipping services, 2 under DAP incoterm and one under DDP incoterms.
DDP Incoterm: If you choose the DDP incoterm, the goods and services tax (“GST”), harmonized sales tax (“HST”), provincial sales tax (“PST”), retail sales tax (RST) and Quebec sales tax (QST) will be paid automatically and you will not be requested any payment upon reception of your package.
DAP Incoterm: If you choose the DAP incoterm, taxes (Import taxes, sales taxes, VAT, etc), customs duties and fees may be applied by the Canadian customs and you are responsible for its payment directly to the transport company. We have no control over whether the fees are applied or not.
Taxes are calculated based on the total price of the package contents + shipping costs, and possibly added fees and vary depending on the destination province.

    • Sales to individuals in any other countries

All prices are shown excluding any taxes. Therefore, taxes (Import taxes, sales taxes, VAT, etc), customs duties and fees may be applied in your country to packages sent from Japan and you are responsible for its payment directly to the transport company.

We have no control over whether duties and fees are applied or not. It is at the sole discretion of the customs officer.

Fees vary depending on the destination country. Taxes are calculated based on the total price of the package contents + shipping costs, and possibly added fees.

Some countries have a "de minimis" value (i.e a threshold that exempts imports from duty and or tax/VAT). In those case, you should not have to pay any import for orders valued below the threshold. Here are some examples:
Australia: 1,000 AUD
New Zealand: 1,000 NZD

    • Sales to businesses

Please contact us to setup your account or inquiry for wholesale pricing.

All prices are excluding any taxes.  Taxes (Import taxes, sales taxes, VAT, etc), customs duties and fees may be applied in your country to packages sent from Japan and you are responsible for its payment directly to the transport company. We have no control over whether the fees are applied or not.

 

Payment methods

We accept the following types of payment:
- credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, Discover and Diners Club)
- Paypal
- Shop Pay
- digital wallets (Apple Pay & Google Pay)
- Bancontact
- iDEAL.

Prices are displayed in your domestic currency or your selected currency during checkout.

 

Damages and packages lost in transit

If your order was damaged or if your package was lost during transit, please contact us to file a claim with the shipping carrier. A package is considered lost when there's no tracking updates for 30 consecutive days. We will replace all items damaged or lost in transit once the shipping carrier accepts the claim. Orders lost due to incomplete or incorrect information such as wrong addresses, incomplete names, or fake phone numbers do not qualify for item replacements.

 

Missing packages

If you receive a delivery notification but are unable to find the package at the location specified by the shipping carrier, please contact them immediately to report the issue. Failing to contact the shipping carrier promptly will reduce the chances of locating your parcel. Note that we are unable to file a claim for packages marked as delivered.
